Maintenance Notes

With summer just around the corner, now is the perfect time to refresh your apartment and ensure everything is in top shape. A little preparation now can help you stay comfortable and keep your living space in great condition through the warmer months.

Keep Your AC Running Efficiently

Before the summer heat arrives, check that your air conditioning unit is working properly:
Clean or replace the air filter to improve airflow and efficiency.
Vacuum vents and remove dust buildup that could block circulation.
Ensure furniture isn’t blocking air vents for optimal cooling.

If you notice any issues with your AC, contact maintenance as soon as possible.

Spring Cleaning & Decluttering

Spring is a great time to deep clean and refresh your space. Decluttering and organizing will not only make your home feel more open but also improve air quality.

Declutter: Sort through closets, drawers, and storage spaces—donate, recycle, or discard anything you no longer need.
Organize: Use bins, baskets, and drawer dividers to keep things tidy. Label storage containers for easy access.
Dust all surfaces: Don’t forget light fixtures, ceiling fans, and baseboards.
Clean windows: Wash both inside and out to let in more natural light.
Freshen up upholstery: Vacuum sofas, chairs, and cushions; consider steam-cleaning for a deeper refresh.
Clean appliances: Wipe down your refrigerator, microwave, oven, and dishwasher. Empty the fridge, discard expired items, and sanitize shelves.

Managing Humidity in Warmer Months

Excess humidity can lead to mold growth and musty odors, especially in apartments. Take these steps to control moisture and maintain a fresh living environment:

💧 Use a dehumidifier to reduce excess moisture in the air.
💧 Ventilate properly by running exhaust fans in bathrooms and kitchens or opening windows when possible.
💧 Clean mold-prone areas regularly, especially showers, behind toilets, and windowsills.

By following these maintenance tips, you’ll create a cleaner, fresher, and more comfortable living space all season long!

Seasonal Tips

Stay Cool & Enjoy the Warmer Days

As the days grow longer and temperatures rise, here are some simple ways to stay comfortable while keeping your energy costs down.

Maximize Natural Light & Keep Your Home Cool

  • Let in the light☀️: Open your blinds or curtains during the morning and late afternoon to take advantage of natural daylight, reducing the need for artificial lighting.

  • Block the heat🌡️: During the hottest part of the day, keep curtains or blinds closed to prevent excess heat from entering your apartment.

  • Upgrade for efficiency 🕶️ : Consider using blackout curtains or solar shades to improve cooling and energy efficiency.

Grilling Guidelines

🔥 Electric grills only: As a reminder, only electric grills are permitted for use at Queen Anne’s Gate Apartments. Open-flame grills, including gas and charcoal grills, are not allowed for safety reasons. If you plan on grilling, please ensure you are following all community guidelines.
